We'll journey to a range of stunning venues, from sea cliffs to towering mountain crags, and customise the experience to fit your individual skill set. During the week, you'll receive expert instruction in key areas such as protection and anchor use, abseiling, multi-pitch climbing, leading on rock, movement techniques, mental training, rescue techniques, sea cliff and stack climbing, and bouldering skills. This course is based in Aviemore, at the heart of the Cairngorm National Park, surrounded by the rugged beauty of Scotland's Highlands. Aviemore is well-connected by road, rail, and air, and offers a wide range of accommodation options to suit all budgets. While the village will be our base, we’ll explore various Highland locations to make the most of the weather and conditions, ensuring you have the best experience possible.
NB: This itinerary is a sample of what we could do during the course. This is subject to change due to weather, conditions and group fitness. I will always make sure that you get the most out of your course no matter what the weather and conditions are.
Day 1
09:00 - Meet at the Kingussie Crag Car Park - Cairngorms National Park
(I can also collect you from your accommodation and take you to the location)
We will spend day one honing our ropework and rock movement skills at the single pitch crag. There are a variety of grades to try and we will look at safe abseiling practice, multi pitch rescue techniques and efficient stance management. This day will provide the foundations for the adventures to come!
16:30 - Return to the car park and head home for a well deserved rest!
Day 2
09:00 - Meet at the Binnein Shuas car park - Loch Laggan
(I can also collect you from your accommodation and take you to the location)
Today we will climb the four star classic Ardverikie Wall (HS 4b). This multi pitch route is situated in the wild valley of Loch na H-Earba. The incredible climbing and the views combine to give you an unforgettable experience on one of the UK’s best multi pitch climbs.
17:00 - Return to the car park and head home for a well deserved rest!
Day 3
09:00 - Meet at the Cairngorm Ski car park - Cairngorms National Park
(I can also collect you from your accommodation and take you to the location)
We will embark on some exploration of the beautiful, pink Cairngorm Granite today with a trip to Hells Lum crag to climb Clean Sweep (VS 4c). Four pitches of wonderful friction climbing in the beautiful Loch Avon basin. We will be practising stance management and speed of changeovers.
17:00 Return to the car park and head home for a well deserved rest!
Day 4
08:00 - Meet at the car park for Ben Nevis
(I can also collect you from your accommodation and take you to the location)
We will finish off the week with an ascent of the ultra-classic Centurion (HVS 5a) on Carn Dearg Buttress, Ben Nevis. This climb takes us on a journey through the wild terrain of the Ben Nevis North Face. A true adventure and a great way to finish the week.
16:00 - Return to the car park and head home for a well deserved rest!

No prior experience is required to join this rock climbing course, making it accessible to everyone. However, having some indoor rock climbing experience beforehand can help you get the most out of the course.
I will tailor the course to your individual needs and match you with others of complementary abilities, ensuring that both beginners and experienced climbers make great progress towards becoming safe, confident, and independent climbers throughout the week.
